Relocation services are services offered by some companies to employees and their families, and sometimes even whole business departments, to help them move to a new location. This service is usually internally processed by the company's human resource department and then subcontracted out to several providers of relocation services.
Relocation services are not the same as a (LINK) moving company because not all moving companies offer relocation services. This process of business can be used domestically for residential services for employees moving from one place to another within the same state or country. (LINK) International relocation services are often used to for relocating employees planning to work abroad.
The agency that provides the service of relocating takes on the responsibility of the relocation process. One such service is making arrangements for necessary documentation like permission for long-term stays or a visa. The agency will provide full service relocation such as finding a new house and accommodations for the employee and their family. The business relocation service will even find an adequate school for the children's education. Employee relocation services will even take on the responsibility of arranging a job for the employee's spouse. International relocation services will find someone to teach the entire family a foreign language. Sometimes, (LINK) insurance can also be covered.
The cost to send an employee to work overseas in another country on global assignment is a very costly venture for the company. However, the benefit of having employees based in other countries could be substantial for the employer. Relocation cost is a combination of payroll, travel expenses, transportation and human resources.
When relocating taxes could become an issue. The employee is still responsible for state and federal taxes in their home country, and may be responsible for taxes in the new country. Most companies that send employees abroad will have a tax equalization policy. With this policy, the employee will only pay what they would be paying if they were in their home country and the company itself will pay all of the foreign taxes. A tax is usually charged to the employee by the company for this convenience. However, if the employee attempts to pay the foreign taxes on their own, they will most likely end up with a decrease in pay from what they were making in their home country.
With the taxes in the foreign country being paid by the cooperation as well as the allowance for housing and the adjustment for living costs, the usual employee relocation package is double or triple the salary paid to the employee in their home country.
There are many other factors that influence the cost of international relocation service. One such factor is the destination country to which the employee is relocating. Different expenses arise will dealing with other countries; therefore, the relocation cost can definitely be affected by the destination. The size of the family that the moving relocation service has to move from one place to another can change the cost of relocating. It would obviously be cheaper to relocate one individual than a married person with six kids. The cost is lower for shorter trips, therefore more and more businesses are leaning more towards long business trips as opposed to total employee relocation. This method, however, can backfire if the employee is not allowed enough time for efficient business dealings and assignment accomplishment.
International relocation takes time and effort to accomplish. Planning and coordination for moving internationally can take up to the months to prepare. Many things can make the move stressful. If the employees entire family makes the move, that can increase the stress by having to worry about the family adjusting to the new culture and making arrangements for the children and the family pet. There must be plenty of time allowed for all of the (LINK) packing, paperwork and red tape that go along with moving overseas. Finding a place to live and a suitable school for the children can be a task in itself.
Employee relocation services help to take some of the stress from the employee so they can better accomplish their assigned task. Relocation services can take care of finding a home or school as well of cutting through the red tape to manage all of the paperwork involved in relocating the employee and their family.
